I thought I would start this series of photos with a positive note. This is the first time in 2 years of riding that I have ever seen someone get a ticket for parking in the bike lane, and I had my camera with me! Yeehaw. Could changes be afoot?
Regarding the next 60 posts...
I was surprised to find that Toronto only recently celebrated its 100 posting on mybikelane.com, considering how many cars and delivery vans I swerve around daily on my way to U of T campus.
I decided that today, between errands, I would ride up and down the College bike lane (between Manning and Bay) until 5pm. The following 60 posts were all taken today (May 15) during approximately 5 hours of riding between 10 and 5 o’clock. I only snapped the shutter if I, or any other cyclist, had to ride around them since this meant the driver clearly was not concerned for the safety and rights of cyclists.
A couple of observations:
- There were MANY pictures that were too blurry to post and MANY vehicles that I didn’t get to in time to snap the shot. 60 postings does not represent nearly the number of violations I saw today.
- On multiple occasions I saw delivery trucks finish one delivery and then just drive down the bike lane 50m or so, park, and make another delivery. They probably do this up the whole street.
I challenge someone else to get more posts in one day... it shouldn't be too hard to beat! It'd be interesting to profile another bike lane though.
Safe riding!

A truck parked in the bikelane and a parking enforcement officer had just walked by without so much as a glance (you can just see him off to the right).

I just thought it was interesting how the thought of accomodating cyclists rarely seems to occur to construction/works crews. The 2nd photo attached comes from Germany, where they seem to take this issue more seriously.

there was a 4th incident as well, but the picture was quite fuzzy.
