http://bstewart23.com/blog: Frequent blog posts concerning Bay Street's bike lane violations.
Bay St and Grosvenor St, Toronto, ON
That blue-roofed building you see in the background is Toronto Police Headquarters. Go figure.
Bay St and Gerrard St, Toronto, ON
(Bike lane sign rather ineptly highlighted).
Bay St and Wellesley St, Toronto, ON
I'm parked in the bike lane outside the Sutton Place Hotel. Ergo, I am important.
Bay St and Charles St, Toronto, ON
Bike lane as passing lane, again. And repeatedly, north on Bay.
Bay St and Hagerman St, Toronto, ON
So this guy was using the bike lane as a passing lane, going north from Queen on Bay. But not just as a passing lane, as a fun obstacle course, using cyclists as pylons. When called on his crap by two cyclists he turned up his stereo. And, going for the hat trick, he played air guitar for us, to indicate his concern over our safety.
Bay St and Richmond st, Toronto, ON
Why is it that the companies with "security" or "guaranteed" in their slogans or advertising are the ones that guarantee cyclists be so... insecure?
Bay St and Charles ST, Toronto, ON
Y'know, every day there's another reason why I'm happy I dropped Bell as my phone service provider.
Bay St and Hagerman St, Toronto, ON
So, this guy zipped north on Bay, through the business district, using the bike lane as a passing lane, actually honking at cyclists as he swerved within feet of their rightful paths. A few blocks up, he found the bike lane useful for parking. Didn't like having his photo taken and honked at me as I passed by.
I told him to search for his plate number on Google tomorrow. Welcome to the semipermanence of the Interwebs, jerk.
Bay St and King St, Toronto, ON
It's a cavalcade of Coke offenses!
Bay St and St. Mary St, Toronto, ON
There are two side streets and a rear shipping entrance to this set of buildings. But, hey, why not use the bike lane?
Bay St and Adelaide St, Toronto, ON
Note the cyclist forced into the auto lane, and the car swerving to avoid. Thanks, Canada Post!
(Must've been mere seconds after pards' sighting!)
Bay St and College St, Toronto, ON
This guy stops in the bike lane outside the medical building at the corner of Bay and College ALL THE TIME. Oh, there's a loading dock around the corner. But he needs to fill those compressed-gas tanks right there, with pedestrians passing by and, oh, by the way, cyclists mere feet from the nozzles of his tank. Safe!
Bay St and Breadalbane St, Toronto, ON
I'm just... delivering this dry cleaning!
Bay St and Elm St, Toronto, ON
Interior of truck lightened to show lounging delivery personnel. No stopping, no parking, bike lane.
Bay Street and Temperance Street, Toronto, ON
Bay St. and Charles St, Toronto, ON
I've been riding my bicycle on Bay Street every month for the past 20 years, twice a day during nonwinter business days. I've seen police ticketing motorists exactly ONCE, of the thousands of bike/bus/taxi lane violations I've witnessed.
Police have stopped me twice during this same period, to make sure my bell was working. While this was happening, dozens of cars sped past in the bike/bus/taxi lane.
Bay St and Walton St, Toronto, ON
Note the driver enjoying a nice, relaxing coffee with some passerby while forcing cyclists into the non-bike lane.
