I am a Purolator driver. I think its a great idea, having bike lanes. I am also a cyclist. One of the neccessities of my job is to park as close as possible to a delivery location I also understand the need to pull off to the side of the road and not block vehicular traffic. These bike lanes seem to be added to the roadways as an afterthought and do not allow for any commercial or any other type of vehicle to pull off to the side and be out of the way. I appologize if my truck has ever obstructed you path but if it comes down to a choice between momentarily blocking the bike lane or creating a traffic jam by stopping right on the road to leave the bike lane clear, then the choice is clear. Perhaps the bike lane should in the middle of the street not to the side, that way no one could park there. Perhaps 5 feet of the sidewalk could be removed along bike lanes with the bike lane not against the curb so there would be room for traffic to pull over and not block bike lanes. Don't be cranky with the drivers, be cranky with the road builders who don't allow enough room the all of the purposes that a road must be used for.
