This Beck taxi #3235 was parked in the westbound bike lane just west of Spadina on College at around ten minutes to 3pm on Monday June 23,2008. He came out of his cab and I told him that it was illegal to park there and that he was endangering my life by parking there. He refused to move and walked away telling me to f**k off.

The driver of Beck Taxi cab #469 was celebrating the opening of the brand new Queensway bike lane. The lane was painted only 6 days ago, yet has already become a place for taxis to stop and pick up passengers.
Amazingly, there's pretty much NOTHING around here. It would have been the last place I would have imagined a taxi to stop and park in the bike lane. It's almost as if as soon as a bike lane gets installed, taxis flock to it.
I have never seen anyone parked along the edges of the Queensway before, and now that the bike lane is there, it's starting. I hope this isn't a trend.
The person who hailed the taxi was apologetic.....

Anyway....why don't they convert some of the on-street parking to taxi stands and delivery areas? Less bike lane parking needed then.
