Another on Runnymede
Runnymede and Annette, Toronto, ON
After taking these photos, I talked to a group of 3 bike cops on the corner across the street. They didn't seem to care about the minivan parked in the bike lane, and said "he's unloading". They even asked me if it's a no parking area, and I had to point out the bike lane signs etc.
I had to point out the Honda parked here as well, and had to keep pushing them to do something about it. When I rode away, they went over to see what was going on with the bike lane parkers. Not sure if they were actually issued tickets....but at least I got the complaints in and they seeme to at least go and talk to the offenders.
Little Bee parking spot
Runnymede and Annette, Toronto, ON
Toronto's most prolific bike lane parker.
Convenience
Runnymede and Annette, Toronto, ON
Bike lane parking is almost always about the convenience of motorists. The collection of shops at Runnymede and Annette is like a magnet for bike lane parkers.
Cleaning up
Runnymede and St. Johns, Toronto, ON
This guy was using the bike lane as a personal parking space while cleaning his car.

There's almost always someone parked here....
Left running on Runnymede
Runnymede and Annette, Toronto, ON
Van parked in the bike lane on Runnymede and Annette. I bet at least 50 cars park here every day, as there's almost always one when I go by. There are usually lots of empty legal spaces just a few metres ahead too, but these motorists are too lazy to walk an extra 10 seconds. This one was even too lazy to turn off the engine, so it was left unattended and idling while the driver went to the store, which is also illegal.
License plate 822 ZVN.
Real Women Park in Bike Lanes
Runnymede and St. Johns, Toronto, ON
A van and trailer blocking the bike lane on Runnymede Rd. at St. Johns Rd. Could have backed up some more not to block so much bike lane.

Ambassador Taxi on Runnymede
Runnymede and Bloor, Toronto, ON
This Ambassador Taxi # A97 is sporting the mark of The Beast while parked in the bike lane outside McDonald's at Runnymede and Bloor. A true ambassador of evil.
Pick-em-up on Runnymede
Runnymede and Bloor, Toronto, ON
Another pick-em-up truck on Runnymede, outside the subway station. Well, I guess that's what pickup trucks are for, right?
Happy New Year on Runnymede
Runnymede and Annette, Toronto, ON
I didn't bother taking any photos of bike lane violations on Runnymede Rd. for a while. The bike lanes were uselessly full of snow anyway. I actually preferred it that way, rather than the already useless doorzone bike lanes.
Anyway, the lanes and parking areas are mostly cleared of snow now after all the warm weather. Now motorists have no excuse for parking there.
This pickup truck is in the usual place on Runnymede at Annette, by the variety store.
Runnymede and Bloor
Runnymede and Bloor, Toronto, ON
Typical to find people parked here infront of McDonald's and the Runnymede Subway station, at any time of day not just rush hour. This was at about 1:00pm.

People always park their cars here. If the city doesn't enforce it, they could at least put in some parking meters or something. :)
I Believe in Sick Kids

The sticker on the back of this unattended idling minivan in the bike lane brings a tear to my eye: "I Believe in Sick Kids".

Huge truck in the bike lane
Runnymede and Bloor, Toronto, ON
This section of bike lane is pretty useless at the best of times. The pavement is borderline rubble, it's almost completely in the door-zone, and you get people parking in it all the time. In this case it's a huge truck parked facing the wrong direction.
Lazy McDonalds Customer
Runnymede and Bloor, Toronto, ON
It's OK to park in the bike lane to shuffle your fat ass into the McD's, as long as you put your blinkers on.
Runnymede Station
Runnymede and Bloor, Toronto, ON
Typical scene in front of Runnymede subway station. Cars line up here in the bike lane for drop offs / pick ups, or to park and go to the McDonald's.
This guy honked at me while I was taking photos. I guess guess he supports mybikelane.com. Thanks!
Bike Lane Parking Lot, 2 of 2
Runnymede and Annette, Toronto, ON
Parked right in front of the last one. This happens all the time....one person parks in the bike lane, then others follow because they think it's OK.
Lane stripe, bike symbol, bike route sign, and No Parking sign don't do much about that.
Nevermind "Neighbourhood Watch". I should put up some "Bike Lane Watch" signs here. :)
Bike Lane Parking Lot, 1 of 2
Runnymede and Annette, Toronto, ON

A shitload of legal, open parking spaces behind him, and this guy still parks in the bike lane.
Toronto Hydro on Runnymede
Runnymede and Annette, Toronto, ON
Lots of free spaces on the other side of the street, or just a little further up the block. Chose to block the bike lane instead.
Truck and Trailer on Runnymede

Green P van driving in Bike Lane!!!
st johns rd and runnymede rd, Toronto, ON
While biking on my way to work this morning traffic was backed up on Runnymede south of Dundas. I found one of the city's Green P vans (A-61) DRIVING in the bike lane on Runnymede from before St. John's up to Dundas. I caught up and passed him, stopped at the corner to whip out my digicam and snapped a shot of him going by. The second photo shows the bike lane and the long line of traffic that he used the bike lane to bypass.
Purolator blocking the bike lane
Runnymede and St. Johns, Toronto, ON
Purolator truck on Runnymede. Right next to a big, mostly empty parking lot at the Runnymede Health Centre where the package was being delivered.
I'm parking in it
Runnymede and Bloor, Toronto, ON
Typical scene.... Someone parked outside the McDonald's at Runnymede Station. This time it's DanMac Plumbing & Drain Ltd.
Runnymede Parking Lots (3 of 3)
Runnymede and Annette, Toronto, ON
Third one....pulled in just as I was taking photos of the other two.
Lazy ass convenience store patrons, can't walk an extra few metres....
In the second photo you can see another car in the bike lane to the north. It was broken down and being worked on, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Could have pushed it out of the lane though...ohwell.
Runnymede Parking Lots (1 of 3)
Runnymede and Annette, Toronto, ON
Two cars parked in this bike lane as I went by, then a third one pulls in as I start taking pictures.
Seriously...why do they bother making this a bike lane? Why not just call it a loading / parking zone? The bike lane stripe just makes it perfect for motorists to park there.
Little Bee Again
Runnymede and Annette, Toronto, ON
Same van, same place.
Today there were some bike cops at just across the street. I chatted with them briefly and told them there are ALWAYS people parked in the bike lanes along here.
The cop's response was basically that it's a parking enforcement issue, not theirs. They rarely give tickets. Not sure what they really do when they ride around then....at the very least, I think they should tell the drivers to move along.
