Finding the Bike Path on Rogers Rd.
Rogers and Silverthorn, Toronto, ON
I took the new Rogers Rd. bike lane on Saturday for the first time. Not bad...but it's one of the worst I've ever seen for bike lane parking violations. I took photos of less than half the vehicles I saw parked.
Here's the first one. A "Pathfinder" finding parking in the bike path.
Runnymede Station
Runnymede and Bloor, Toronto, ON
Typical scene in front of Runnymede subway station. Cars line up here in the bike lane for drop offs / pick ups, or to park and go to the McDonald's.
This guy honked at me while I was taking photos. I guess guess he supports mybikelane.com. Thanks!
Runnymede Parking Lots (3 of 3)
Runnymede and Annette, Toronto, ON
Third one....pulled in just as I was taking photos of the other two.
Lazy ass convenience store patrons, can't walk an extra few metres....
In the second photo you can see another car in the bike lane to the north. It was broken down and being worked on, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Could have pushed it out of the lane though...ohwell.
Morning Yoga in the SUV?
Runnymede and Annette, Toronto, ON
Parked in the bike lane, idling the SUV.
SUV on Runnymede
Runnymede and Annette, Toronto, ON
Usually the Runnymede bike lane parkers use the south side of this intersection. This SUV driver decided to change it up a little.
Bad parking/idling job
Runnymede and Dundas, Toronto, ON
It's a legal parking space, but this person decided to use only half of it while sitting around idling her SUV.
More Bad Carma
Runnymede and Annette, Toronto, ON
Another one in front of the Yoga place on Runnymede at Annette. I'm pretty much guaranteed to find one here any time I ride by.
SUV Idling in the Bike Lane
Runnymede and Annette, Toronto, ON
Bike lanes are a great place to sit around idling your SUV. The "drivesafe" sticker in the back window is a nice touch.
SUV Idler
Runnymede and Bloor, Toronto, ON
Parked and idling in the bike lane. Right next to a "No Parking" sign. Right under a "No Idling" sign. Right beside a park where people are sitting around trying to catch a few breaths of fresh air. Keep up the good work, Hyundai driver!
(Note: The car closer to me is parked legally. It's the SUV that is parked illegally.)
SUV on Sidewalk and Bike Lane
Poplar Plains, Toronto, ON
Yes, it's OK to park your SUV simultaneously on the sidewalk and in the bike lane when you're picking someone up. Nevermind the fact that there are driveways with empty space that you can park in. Feel free to idle your vehicle while you're there too.
Bike Lane Driver
College and Borden, Toronto, ON
This jerk was slowly driving along in the bike lane and we were stuck behind him. At this point he was starting to turn out. This doesn't leave much room in this door-zone bike lane (note the black SUV on the right...). This was on College St., somewhere around Borden I think. Flash washed out the license plate number.
Way over the line
Eglinton Ave. W. and Bemersyde, Toronto, ON
I like this bike path that follows Eglinton Ave. in Etobicoke. At least in the newly-redone sections, the bike path is separated from the sidewalk, including at the intersections. However, this still doesn't stop motorists from creeping up WAAAY past their stop lines and covering parts of the bike path where it crosses the street. This photo is at the intersection of Bemersyde (between Kipling and Islington), which is also part of the north-south #9 signed route.
Bike Lane Loading Dock
Harbord St. and Montrose Ave, Toronto, ON
SUV parked just infront of the previous bike lane violator on Harbord at Montrose. This seems to be the unofficially designated loading zone for the apartment building at this corner.
